Winter time

Well Thanksgiving is over with, I hope everyone enjoyed it and was safe in their travels, and Christmas is right around the corner. The temperature is starting to make that turn towards the cold side and the season is finally feeling like it should.
Projuects this winter include putting in some drains, cutting some trees down, adding some new irrigation heads, along with our nomarl maintenance upkeep. I am hoping by the beginning of summer to have the upper tee on #6 open for play. We still have some sodding to do in the spring to finish the tee off. Also the new level #10 tee will be open come spring time as soon as we get the height of cut on it maintained. I am also looking to expand the very back tee on #15 so we can move the tees over on that side of the hole permantely.
If you have any questions or haven't been to the course in a long time, please call our pro shop or just stop by to see the new improvements to the course.

Where's winter?

The weather lately has been wonderful with cool mornings and gorgeous afternoons leading to more golf being played this November. Juniper Hill Golf Course had a great year, grass stayed green thanks to mother nature this year, and everyone has enjoyed the improvements. So where's winter? This time of year needs to be devoted to winter work, but we're still mowing grass. We need to start putting the course to bed, so to speak, with mulching leaves, cutting some trees down, putting some drain lines in, adding some more irrigation, and going over our equipment preparing it for next year. On the other side, I think everyone likes the idea of playing more golf and playing as long as they can. Enjoy the weather as long as winter stays away, it could be just right around the corner.

Frosty mornings

Looks like winter is starting to settle in. Getting those frosty mornings now, with the cold weather in the mix. Frost delays are starting, just like every golf course around us, we just need to practice patience and wait till the frost melts off from the sun.
We got some winter projects going one this year. We're cutting some trees down, dead ones and trying to open some areas up to allow more air movement. Also, a few drains will be put in along with a couple new irrigation heads.
We had a great season and although I'm looking forward to resting a little bit this winter, I'm excited to get next season going just due to the great upgrades we did this year. I hope everyone likes and enjoys the new look. For those who haven't been back to play Juniper Hill in a couple years, come back. You'll like what we're doing.
